Custom tailoring is our specialty, Gregory builds each piece to your own shoulders and posture, not a size on a rack.
Chapter 01
Why off the rack almost fits
A stock pattern is built for an average body, and most of us are not average anywhere it counts. The shoulders are cut for one slope, the sleeve is pitched at one angle, the seat and waist are proportioned to one ratio, and your own shoulders, arm and torso rarely agree with all three at once. That is why a jacket can look fine on the hanger and still pull across the back or bunch under the arm the moment you move.
Custom tailoring starts from your own measurements instead of a size chart, so the shoulder seam, sleeve pitch and waist suppression are worked out for your body specifically. Gregory has been doing this kind of work in Waltham since 1978, and the difference shows in the small things: a collar that sits flat against your neck, a sleeve that breaks at the wrist instead of the knuckle, a waist that follows your shape without pulling.

How a custom piece is worked
The first visit is measurements and posture. Gregory checks how you stand, where your shoulders sit, how your arms hang, because those details change how a garment is cut long before any cloth is touched. From there you choose the cloth for the piece you're having made, whether that's a jacket, trousers or a full suit.
Once the cloth is chosen, the garment is basted together loosely and fitted on you in person so the shoulder, sleeve and body can all be checked and adjusted before anything is sewn for good. Only after that basted fitting is approved does the piece get its final stitching, pressing and finish. As Gregory puts it, custom tailoring is our specialty, and the basted fitting is the step that makes the final result worth the time.
Chapter 03
What to bring, and how long it takes
Bring the shoes and the shirt you plan to wear with the finished piece to your fittings. Shoe height changes trouser break, and a shirt collar changes how a jacket collar is set, so fitting in the right layers matters more than it sounds like it should.
