What bridal and formal work involves
A formal dress asks for a different kind of attention than a suit or a shirt. A layered skirt needs its hem taken up evenly through every panel, a bodice needs to be taken in without pulling the boning or the seams out of line, and a bustle has to be set so the train lifts and holds through a full night on your feet. Zippers and linings on a fully lined dress are their own job again, worked separately from the shell so the outside keeps its shape.

Book early, and bring the shoes
Dress work almost always needs more than one fitting. A hem has to be set against the shoes you'll actually wear, a bodice has to be checked against the undergarments you'll actually have on, and a bustle has to be pinned and walked in before it's sewn. That sequence takes time, so the honest guidance is to book as early as you can, especially ahead of a wedding date.

Chapter 03
When a dress can't wait
That said, Gregory has made an emergency work when the situation called for it. One customer wrote that he answered her call after hours, agreed to fix a broken zipper and a hole in her fully lined dress, then picked the dress up from a salon appointment himself and “dropped it off at my apartment in less than 5 hours,” in time for her to get ready for dinner. The invisible zipper was replaced and the holes in the lining and shell were both mended.
